Running out of things to put in the title

No blog last week as the net was down at the SAC.

So far Im a tiny bit away from finishing my Investigating Europe, I ony have a bit of the conflict to do and my intro and conclusion but it shouldnt take me too long, I was so pleased with myself that I actually sat down and spent a few hours doing it. This subject has vbeen good so far, when investigating I do get distracted but its with things that are educational, so its all good.

Again I haven't studied spanish as much as I stated,I have to go over asking questings and asking what peoples hobbies are, etc.

I reallty must go to the drop in center for Maths as I am falling behind and theres notr long untill christmas.

Ooo arr Voondabar

Very great lesson today! I am on the path of self discovery. Today we had a lesson with Dieca about 'mind set' and I found it unbelieveably helpfull, I recognise now why I'm not motivated and why I give up easily. I have a fixed mind set, which is holding me back. You can see from my blog that I dont really set realistic targets and everything is a bit all over the place and I try to neglect the things that I dont think I will be good at or don't particulary like because i think "ill never pass it anyway" or I fell like its not my fortay so I will just concentrate on what I think I am good at. This can change, I dont need to be good at the things I do, I can struggle as you need to stuggle in order to progress, and thats ok, I am not 'thick' or 'stupid' I just lack motivation in areas which can actually be improved.

Last week the only I didnt do anything that I wrote on my blog, The only thing I nearly done was instead of using colored pens I just used sympols boxes and arrows on my notes but the coloured pens would have been more benificial as it would have been more eye catching and I would take things in easier.

History - I need to read the handouts that I was givin and refresh my memory on the suffragetes! I just need to spend about and hour doing this on Thursday as the information is in my brain somewhaere, I just need to access it again.

Lit - Go over things likt onomatopia and enjungmong's (as you can clearly see I cant even spell them and its something that I will learn to do for next week so in my next blog I can say, Yeay I did it)

Spanish - go over connecting words and read over the basics, go over the routine and family as I am a bit lost with that. By spending 30 minutes per night and I need to stick to it as I can study at the weekend I'll be best doing this later at night as it is quiet. and I need to make sure the house is tidy and I have organised everything, otherwise I'll just be trying to study thinking 'I need to hang that washin up' no distractions!

Investegating Europe - I have got a good grasp of the subject now and I know what I want to write about so I need to make a more in depth plan and make a start on the actual project as just doing the front page at this stage is not good enough. I want to have the conflict, a bit on the history and the basic believes of Islam done(first draft). I will go to Joes on Wednesday and be honest on what I have done so far and show him my plan and get some feedback on what he things about it.

English - I am finding English ok at the moment and I am on track I just need to finish the assesment on Calvanism which will only take me about an hour, and I can do that on Wednesday night.

Maths - I need to work on the outcome one and go over percentages and significant numbers and I have to go over 2 questions for my first assessment. I can work on my outcome 2 on thursday night so things are fresh in my head for the Friday.

I have alot to do this week, I do have the time so no excuses. I wont be able to do much on Sat and Sun coz Im going to London, yeay!!! But I need to take this blog more seriously, hopefully next week I will be saying, yes I have did quite alot of my project and I feel more comfertable and confident with Spanish.

Roll on next week.

hey!

Hi there,

another week has gone past and I have been neglecting my studies again! Time to get back on track. I haven't really done much about the investagating Europe project apart from watching a few documentarys, taking notes and just trying to understand alot of things. I have spent most of my time investagating the subject to make sure I understand it ...this week Im am going to put pen to paper and plan excactly what I am going to put in my project. Its quite hard to see what is relevent and what is not but I will just have to do an amazing plan :)

With Dieca we did the wee test that Jordy sent us to see how we learn I got the following results:

The VARK Questionnaire Results
Your scores were:
  • Visual: 2
  • Aural: 11
  • Read/Write: 5
  • Kinesthetic: 10
I know that I learn best when im listening and taking notes then talking about the subject as if I know what im talking about. I do that alot, with a serious face.

Im going to start organising my notes better and using coloured pens(basicly use more techniques for studying) . This week I will be making a good start on my Investagating Europe," Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina" I am going to write up a summary on the Bosnian War and the basic Islamic believes. I will have this done by Wednesday !!!

I really have to get my act together with spanish, I have totally neglected it in the past wee while. I am going to study spanish for 45 mins per night, just going on byki.com and talkspanish. and Iam going to look over notes, I need to go over the routines and connecting words mainly.

Another week has past.

Well, I have studied alot more spanish this week, good times. However, I have been dying off with a Kidney infection, bad times. I do feel as though I am gettin to grips with Spanish but I need to do alot more work. Im still going to stick with going over my spanish for at least one hour per day. I need to go over my verbs more and I need to go over the simple connecting words so I know them off by heart. I have found out though I am more of a visual learner.

English was good this week as we did a practice assessment in doin that I noticed that it takes me alot of time to understand the questions and it takes me a while to answer them but once I get started I'm fine.

I wasn't able to attend college on Friday so I have to see what I need to catch up on in History and I need to do my Maths test in the drop in session on Wednesday.

Last week I found out in Maths that I am quite capable of the work but I just need to have more confidence as I chose not to do the test and do more revision sheets when I could have sat the test and I would have past it, at least thats what John said.

Im still loving literature I do have to go over things like whaty a metaphor is, or a simile is etc s I can identify them at a first glance.

Planning

Well, last week was pretty good my opinions haven't changed. I wrote my first essay though. Yippee! But I dont think I answered the appropriate questions. Doh! I will live and learn.

This week Im goin to study spanish an hour per night! As we will be doing a test soon on everything we have been taught.

One month on! 28th Sep 2009

The first few weeks of college have been great. I am really enjoying the classes and I've been keeping up with homework.

I have been finding the Spanish very hard and I really need to study in my own time a lot more and plan how I'm going to do that.

My favourite subjects at the moment are English Literature and History, I have always loved History but I didn’t expect that I would like Literature but I have enjoyed it very much and I have even started reading at my own leisure. Reading is something that I would never do unless I had someone very scary to force me and motivate me as I have the "concentration span of a Nat" words of my very lovely English teacher (NOT).

The longer I am on the course the happier I am that I made the right decision. I knew it opened many doors, I just didn't realise how many. My confidence is growing slowly but surely as I feel that I am getting closer to making my decision on which course to apply for at University, hopefully getting offers and actually doing it!

So, I’m still feeling optimistic at the moment, I would be even more optimistic if I got my act together and studied more Spanish at home.

Note to self:

* STUDY MORE AT HOME AND STOP BEING DISTRACTED AND LAZY!! (Mainly Spanish)

Hasta La Vista :)
